A level Results 2007

Thirteen is said to be unlucky for some – but not for those 13 Hereford Cathedral School pupils who scored straight 'A's in their A level examinations.   Amongst the lucky thirteen students were Luke Fisher and Liam Dunachie who secure their Choral scholarships to Cambridge.  Luke and Liam join two other Old Herefordians who will take up top music scholarships at Cambridge next year.

For the second year running students studying A level Art have come amongst the top in the country winning examination board prizes.   Rhiannon Williams and Elizabeth Marlow scored one of the top five marks countrywide in Art and Design (Fine Art).  The Director-General of the AQA Board wrote “There were 5389 candidates entered for this examination so this is an exceptional result.”

Shay-Anne Preece, outgoing Head of School, has secured her place at medical school with 4 grade As and a distinction in the Advanced Examination Award for Biology.    Deputy Head of School, Sebastian Smith, who joined HCS in the nursery finishes 15 years of education at HCS also with straight A grades.   Andrew Pring, one of the last boarders at HCS leaves with 5 grade As.   In total, 40% of all grades achieved were A grades.

Not to be outdone by the artists and musicians, nearly half of those students studying Sports Science have also achieved a grade A.  The PE and Games Department have much to be pleased about; following a good season on the games field, with several pupils being selected for county or country, the department has recently been informed that by this time next year they will also have a brand new Sports Hall.
